Men's Tennis Players Compete in Clay Court Championships

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Tvrtko Kujundzic and Joachim Lien represented the University of Louisville men's tennis team at the T. Rowe Price National Intercollegiate Clay Court Championships Sept. 16-24.
The doubles team of Kujundzic and Lien lost to the third seeded team of Huntley Montgomery and Brian Vahaly of Virginia 2-6, 6-4, 6-0. In the consolation round, they defeated Middle Tennessee's Robert Gustafsson and Michael Klemetz 6-0, 4-6, 6-3, then lost to Mississippi State's Chris McDonald and Matt Soto 6-2, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.
Lien fell to Old Dominion's Q Zoltan Csandi 6-4, 6-0 in the first round of the main draw. California's Robert Kowalczyk defeated Kujundzic 6-1, 6-4 in the first round of the main draw. Kujundzic picked up a walkover win against Cesar Obieta of New Mexico, the lost to Rodrigo Echagaray of Kansas 6-3, 6-2 in the second round of the consolation bracket.
The Cardinals will travel to Urbana, Ill. to compete in the University of Illinois Invitational Sept. 29-Oct. 1.
