CHICAGO -- Central Conneticut caught the Cardinals in a bad mood after an emotional and hard-fought loss to Illinois two hours before the match.
It took just 55 minutes to upend the Blue Devils 15-1, 15-5, 15-7.
Central Connecticut scored the first point of game one and then never scored again, as the Cardinals rolled to a 15-1 win.
"We regrouped after the loss and were ready to take charge of the match early," said Leonid Yelin, U of L head coach.
Central fared little better in the second set as the Cardinals built an 8-0 lead. Central managed five straight points before Louisville slammed the door, running off seven consecutive points.
In the third game, Central stayed close early coming to within four at 8-4. Louisville ran off five quick points to break open the game.
Louisville moved its record to 5-1 with the win.
Anastasia Zaitseva led the Cardinals with 11 kills on 17 attacks and errors. Sonja Percan had 10 kills and five digs.
"Our hitting was accurate and they didn't have near the height that Illinois did," said Yelin.
The Cardinals out-hit the Blue Devils .553 to .000
The Cardinals are idle until next Sept. 15 when they travel to Chapel Hill for the Tarheel Invitational.
