Young Wins Javelin To Lead Cards At Alabama Relays

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - University of Louisville track standout Trish Young won the javelin event with a throw of 147-10 to lead the Cardinals' track & field team at the Alabama Relays over the weekend. The throw was her best of the season and just off her personal best of 150-06.
Louisville's Shola Kadiri finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 47-06.25, marking her best throw of the season and setting a new school record. Senior Jen Carlsen finished seventh in the heptathlon with a total of 4439 points. Freshmen standouts Cindy Roberson and Randelene Sergent finished fifth and eighth, respectively in the pole vault. Roberson cleared a personal best of 10-11.75 for fifth and Sergent tied her personal best, clearing 10-06 for eighth.
On the men's side, Zek Parker placed 12th in the long jump with a distance of 23-09.50. Parker also finished 13th in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.64. Senior Kell Giffin finished 14th in the 5,000 meter run with a tie of 14:58.11.
