Carlsen Places Sixth In Heptathlon At Sea Ray Relays

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - University of Louisville track senior Jen Carlsen finished sixth in the heptathlon at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Carlsen braced the cold and rainy weather to finish with a total of 4573 points, her second best ever in the event and one of the bests in Conference USA. Carlsen placed third in the 200 meter dash, fourth in the long jump and sixth in the 800 meter run to improve her finish. Nakeshia Jackson of UAB won the event with 5282 points.
Randalene Sergent set the school record in the pole vault with a height of 11-1.75, breaking the previous record of 10-11.75 set by Cindy Roberson. Roberson cleared 10-10 in the event.
Angela Mula and Trish Young both placed among the top eight collegians in their respective events, with Mula running 62.21 in the 400m hurdles and Young throwing 147-9 in the javelin.
Distance runner Kell Giffin continued his impressive spring season, running the 1500m in 3:53.30. The Seattle, Wash., native ran the final 400m leg in 60.8 seconds to earn a second in the heat.
