Cardinal Throwers Impressive At Miami Track Invite

OXFORD, Ohio - Despite temperatures in the 30s and wet and windy conditions, four University of Louisville throwers each captured wins in the eight-team Miami (OH) Track & Field Invite Saturday.
Trish Young remained undefeated this spring with her third straight win in the javelin at a major invitational. Shola Kadiri, the reigning Conference USA Indoor Shot Put champion, added a win in her specialty, while Melissa Gale earned a first in the discus. Gale also recorded a seasonal best in the hammer throw.
Jeremy Lewis recorded a personal-best throw of 181-8 in the javelin, which moved him among Conference USA's top efforts in the event. Discus throwers John Wawrysh and Jason Caswell added a third and a fourth in the event to top off an impressive weekend for the throws group. Wawrysh's mark of 157-3 also earned him a spot among the conference's best.
Distance runners Kell Giffin and Kim Shore recorded a personal-best efforts and placed well in their respective events. Giffin was second in the 1500m with a C-USA top-five effort of 3:53.23, while Shore ran 10:17.75 in the 3000m.
