Cardinal Rowers Compete At Clemson Classic

CLEMSON, S.C. - The University of Louisville's Novice 8+ rowing teams remained undefeated this spring as they each defeated Clemson University Saturday morning on Lake Hartwell at the Clemson Classic.
In the opening race, the Cardinals took the Second Novice 8+ competition with a 2000m time of 7:18.2, edging the Tigers by 6.5 seconds.
Louisville won the First Novice 8+ race with a time of 6:49.0, again beating Clemson, which came in at 7:01.6.
With the wins, the two Novice teams remained unbeaten this spring. In five races, the Cardinals have defeated Florida, Notre Dame, Indiana, Ohio State and Clemson.
"I couldn't be more proud of our eights' performances this spring," said U of L head coach Julio Viyella. "This gives us momentum as we enter championship races the next two weekends."
The Cardinals will compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championships April 15-16 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Among the teams scheduled to compete are Duke, Tennessee, North Carolina, Central Florida, Clemson and several other club programs.
