
Kadiri Wins Shot Put in Wildcat Speed Meet

Lexington, Ky. - Conference USA champion Shola Kadiri started the season with a bang at the Wildcat Speed Meet taking the shot put event with a throw of 44'11.50. Teammate Trish Young earned a second place finish with a personal best throw of 43'06.00.
Kadiri also added a second place finish in the 20 lb. weight throw, with a distance of 52'11.50.
Sophomore pole vaulters Cindy Roberson and Randalene Sergent finished second and third respectively. Both Sergent and Roberson registered marks of 11-0.25.
"This wasn't a bad start," said head coach Gene Weis. "It is easy to find some good efforts and see some exciting possibilities in our performances but we were hoping for a few more of those performances.
"There is no doubt that we're anticipating a good year, particularly outdoors. Time will tell but we will certainly have to improve."
