
Volleyball Sweeps Eastern Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Sonja Percan had 16 kills and seven digs to lead the University of Louisville volleyball team to a 15-5, 15-1, 15-3 win over Eastern Kentucky at the Conference USA Challenge Tournament in Cardinal Arena.
Louisville now posts a 25-7 record and has won 18 of its last 19 matches. In the first match, Kentucky beat Marquette 15-13, 15-11, 15-9.
"This tournament helps keep us focused during the break between the Conference USA Tournament and the NCAA first round," said Leonid Yelin, U of L head coach. "We seemed not to have missed a beat and with Kentucky on the schedule tomorrow, it will help match the intensity of the tournament."
Louisville overpowered the Colonels with a strong hitting night. The Cards outhit EKU .371 to .000, notching 45 kills to EKU's 21.
Freshman Benny Flynn, who started in place of Anastasia Zaitseva, was the other Cardinal in double digit kills with 10 kills and two blocks. Zaitseva, was temporarily sidelined with back spasms.
The Colonels were led by Courtney Bowen's nine kills and 12 digs.
EKU takes on Marquette at 4 p.m. with Louisville taking on intrastate rival Kentucky at 7 p.m.
