
Volleyball Sweeps Saint Louis

ST. LOUIS -- Bing Sun had 13 kills and four aces to lead Louisville to a 15-10, 15-7, 15-11 sweep of Saint Louis in Conference USA volleyball action.
U of L extended its winning streak to eight straight matches. The Cardinals are now 16-6 and 8-3 in league play. Saint Louis drops to 11-13 and 5-7 in C-USA play.
Louisville used aggressive serving and strong net play to gain the advantage over Saint Louis. The Cardinals, ranked No. 10 in the nation in blocking, out-blocked the Billikens 12-3 and had nine service aces.
"We had a disappointing loss against Saint Louis in Cardinal Arena earlier this season. it is good to get a road win in this league," said Leonid Yelin.
Louisville used a late run in the first game to put away Saint Louis. After being tied at seven, Louisville scored six straight points to go to 13-7. The Billikens came back with three unanswered points and forced a Louisville timeout. The Cardinals closed the game with a kill by Anastasia Zaitseva and an ace by Bing Sun to win 15-10. The Cardinals had a hot hitting hand in the
second set, outhitting SLU .385 to .029. The Billikens kept it close staying within one at 8-7 but allowed Louisville to make a 7-0 run to win 15-7.
In the third game, Louisville trailed 4-2 before making a 6-1 run to go up 8-5. The Billikens called time out and then ran off six unanswered points to go up 11-9. Sonja Percan came off the bench and had a kill to spark a four point run that featured a pair of Bing Sun aces and a kill by Bing. A solo block by Percan went down for game and match point.
Senior Kelly McClain had five kills on 14 attacks with an ace, 10 digs and three blocks.
