Varsity Rowers Place 37th at World's Largest Regatta

BOSTON - The University of Louisville varsity rowing team placed 37th out of 70 crews in the Club 8+ Women's race over the weekend at the Head of the Charles Regatta, the largest two-day rowing event in the world.
The Cardinals finished the three-mile race with a time of 18:58.80. Riverside BC won the race in 17:23.69, one of just three crews to record sub-18:00 times.
Members of the Cardinal crew were freshmen Allison Kemphaus and Laurie Robison, sophomores Kate O'Bryan, Blaire Steinert, Kris Pittman, Kelly Drescher and Nikki Lee and senior Gena Avery. The crew's coxswain was sophomore Michelle McCombs.
The Cardinals conclude their fall season Sunday when they travel to Elkhart, Ind., for the Head of the Elk Regatta.
