Men's Golf Finishes 15th at Northern Intercollegiate

URBANA, IL -- The University of Louisville men's golf team completed its second competition of the fall with a 15th-place finish at the Northern Intercollegiate. The University of Illinois played host to the event which was captured by Purdue.
Junior college import Greg Garcia continued his strong play in the early going of the 2000-01 campaign, finishing 16th overall with a 54-hole score of 224 (+8). Garcia shot the tournament's second lowest round when he carded a second round 69 (-3) to flirt with his first top 10 showing.
A native of South Africa, Garcia ballooned to a final round 79 and settled for a 16th-place finish, tops among Cardinals.
Junior Grant Sturgeon backed Garcia with a two-day total of 227 (+11) to finish tied for 27th place while Male High grad Chris Campbell placed 62nd with a 54-hole showing of 233 (+17).
The Cardinals return to the links October 9 and 10 as they travel to Cincinnati to take part in the Xavier Invitational.
