Junior: Last year Alana helped set the school record in the 400-medley relay at BIG EAST as the leadoff swimmer with a split of 55.55 as the foursome finished second in 3:39.29. She made the A-final in the 100-back and finished eighth with a time of 55.84. She also swam in the B-final in the 200-back, posting a time of 2:02.02. She was named All-BIG EAST.
Sophomore: During the 2007-2008 season she helped score important points at the BIG EAST Championships as an A-Finalist in the 100-back, placing 7th overall. She also represented the Cards as a member of the Puerto Rican National Team at the 2007 Short Course Nationals where she achieved a lifetime best time in the 200-back against some of the top competition in the country.
Freshman: As a freshman, Alana made the B-Finals at the BIG EAST Championship in the 100-back to add points for the Cardinals and had a lifetime best. She had a lifetime best in the 200-back at conference. She helped set the school record when she swam the leadoff leg of the 400-medley relay team at the BIG EAST Championship in 2007. In the summer of 2007, Alana swam for Puerto Rico in the 2007 Central American and Carribean Swimming Championships that were held in El Salvador. Berrocal is the daughter of former Olympian for Puerto Rico and NCAA Champion, Carlos Berrocal.
Prep: She comes to Louisville from Jupiter, Fla. As a 100- and 200-backstroker, Alana represented Puerto Rico at the 2006 Caribbean and Central American Games held in Colombia. She was a member of the National Puerto Rican Team in 2004 and 2005 and placed first in the 400-medley relay and second in the 100-backstroke at the Central American Championships. She was a two-time high school team captain and was named team MVP in 2004. She swam for the Jupiter Dragons for coach Kiril Zahariev.
Personal: She is the daughter of Carlos and Lili Berrocal.She is majoring in business. She was born May 20, 1988.
