Bio
Senior: Govejsek continued to leave her mark in the Cardinals’ butterfly and freestyle events throughout her senior campaign. At the ACC Championships, she finished 10th in the 100 butterfly (52.78), 21st in the 100 freestyle (49.92), and 23rd in the 50 freestyle (22.75). She won the 100 butterfly (52.99) at the Purdue Invitational where she also raced to fifth in the 50 freestyle (22.96) and sixth in the 100 freestyle (50.08). Govejsek registered six top-five finishes during the dual meet season, including a win in the 100 butterfly against Xavier, and finished 20th in the 100-meter butterfly (1:00.13) at the Toyota U.S. Open.
Junior: As a junior, Govejsek added depth to the Cards’ butterfly and sprint freestyle squads. At the ACC Championships, she scored in both the 100 fly and 50 free, taking 15th in the 100 fly (53.72) and 22nd in the 50 free (22.82). At the IU Invitational, she finished eighth in the 100 fly (53.71), 12th in the 100 free (49.97) and 19th in the 50 free (23.06). Govejsek also put together strong performances throughout the Cards’ dual meet season, including a third place finish in the 100 fly in the victory over Northwestern.
Sophomore: Govejsek scored 27 points for the Cardinals at the ACC Championships and competed in the championship final of the 100 fly, placing seventh in a time of 52.72. At the Winter National Championships, she took seventh in the 100 fly, sprinting to a time of 53.58. Throughout the dual meet season, she recorded a number of top-three finishes in the butterfly events. Most notably, she took second in the 100 fly against Michigan and third in the same event against Tennessee. Govejsek also excelled in the classroom, earning CSCAA Scholar All-America honors.
Freshman: Govejsek added depth to the Cardinals’ squad in both the butterfly and freestyle events, while also making an immediate impact on the relays. She was a member of the 400 free relay at NCAAs, anchoring the team to a sixth place finishing in a split of 48.84. At the ACC Championships, she finished seventh in the 100 fly (52.54), 21st in the 50 free (22.80), and 22nd (49.66) in the 100 free, scoring 29 points for the Cardinals. She also competed in the silver medal winning 200 medley and 400 free relays, splitting a 23.15 on the butterfly leg of the 200 medley and a 49.31 on the 400 free relay. Nastja competed at the Arena Pro Swim Series in both Mesa and Atlanta. Highlights from her swims at the Pro Swim Series include a 19th place finish in the 100-meter free (57.01) and a 23rd in the 50-meter free (26.44) in Mesa. She was also a key contributor in the dual meets for the Cards, most notably picking up two third place finishes in the 200 free (1:50.91) and 100 free (51.01) against Indiana. Against Kentucky, she raced to a third place finish in the 100 fly in a time of 55.13.
Prep: Govejsek comes to the University of Louisville with a wealth of international experience as a member of the Slovenian National Team. She competed in the Doha 2014 World Championships where she raced in the 100 free (54.11), 100 fly (58.84), 50 free (25.20) and the 50 fly (26.84). She swam in the 2014 European Championships, competing in the 100 free (54.94), 200 free (2:01.01), and the 50 free 25.23. She swam in the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan, where she competed in the 50-meter free (26.00), 50-meter fly (26.54), 100-meter free (56.19) and the 100-meter fly (1:01.05).
