Bio
2024-25: In the dual meet season, Krista was fifth in the 100 back (1:00.56) an fifth as a part of the 200 medley relay team against Xavier. Against Auburn, she was 8th in the 50 free (24.86), 7th in the 100 back (57.62). Against rival Kentucky, she was fourth in as part of the 200 medley relay and fifth as a part of the 400 free relay. Versus Indiana, she was sixth in the 100 back (55.23) and fifth as the anchor of the 200 medley relay. She was honored by the ACC for her community service as a part of the Top Six For Service Program.
2023-24: In the dual meet season, Krista placed fifth in the 100 back against Xavier with a time of 1:00.56 and swam on the fifth place 200 medley relay team (1:46.21). In the meet with Auburn, she was eighth in the 50 free (24.86), seventh in the 100 back (57.62) and was on the second place 200 free relay team that went 1:35.12. In the meet with Tennessee, she was eighth in the 100M backstroke (1:08.25) and on the sixth place 200M medley relay (1:57.93). In the Notre Dame meet, she was eighth in the 50 free (26.15) and was on the fifth place 200 medley relay (1:46.15) and the sixth place 400 free relay (3:33.80). Against rival Kentucky, she was on the fifth place 200 medley relay squad that touched fifth for a time of 1:41.07.
2022-23: During the dual meet season, Krista placed seventh against Indiana with a 59.52 in the 100 backstroke. At Notre Dame, she was eighth in the 50 free (26.64) and was sixth in the 100 back (57.87) at Missouri. In the meet with Kentucky, she was sixth in the 100 back (57.13). Against Cincinnati, she was eighth in the 50 free (24.79) and was fifth as part of the 200 medley relay team that she led off with a split of 26.43.
2021-22: Krista Wheeler added depth to the backstroke crew for the Cardinals. At Tennessee, she finished seventh in both the 100 back (58.84) and 200 back (2:11.46). Against Indiana, she was 8th in the 200 back with a 2:05.02 and 8th in the 200 back against Kentucky with a 2:07.08. In the meet with Cincinnati, she was sixth in the 50 free (24.19) and turned in a time of 57.82 in the 100 fly. At the Louisville Invitational, she took first in the 50 free with a 23.89 and was second in the 100 back finals with a 54.11. A star student, she was named to the ACC Academic Honor and the University of Louisville AD Honor Roll.
Prep: Krista is a hometown swimmer, where she trained with Cardinal Aquatics, joining her older sister Kaylee. As a senior at Collegiate, she was a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.At the 2021 KHSAA State Championship, she finished third in the 100 back and fourth in the 50 free. At the 2020 Kentucky HS State Championships, Wheeler was the 100 back runner-up (53.67), while she placed fourth in the 50 free (23.46). At the 2019 Speedo Winter Junior Championships – East, Wheeler finished 18th in the 100 back.
Personal: She is the daughter of Lee and Mark Wheeler. Born February 24, 2003. Major is biology.
