Bio
Junior: David Boland's versatility has turned him into a solid point scorer for the Cardinals. At NCAAs. he swam the finals in the 200-free relay, splitting 19.47 in 1:18.24 15th place time. He split 43.95 in the 400-Free Relay (2:52.18) good for 13th for his second honorable mention All-American swim. Scoring 42 points at last year's ACC Championships, he split 19.55 as the anchor of the bronze medal 200-free relay team (1:18.15). He finished 8th in the B-final in the 200-IM with a time of 1:49.42. He was sixth in the 100-fly with a time of 47.00 and second in the C-final of the 200-fly with a 1:46.04. He split 43.20 in the 4th place 400-free relay (2.53.96). At the Arena Pro Series in Indy, he was 8th in the 100-meter fly with a 54.48. In Charlotte, he was 14th in the 50-meter fly with a 25.04. At the US Open Championships in August, he finaled in the 100-meter fly (55.52) for 15th and was on the second place 4x100 M free relay team, splitting 51.03 for a time of 3:23.01. He also finished 23rd in the 50-meter freestyle with a 23.74.
Sophomore: David has proved to be a staunch competitor for the Cards and a consistent point scorer. At the ACC Championships, David made the B-final in the 200-IM with a 12th place finish. He finished 15th in the 100-fly with a 47.61 in the B-final and was 14th overall in the 200-fly with a 1:47.16. Highlights in the dual season include a seventh place finish at Ohio State in the 100-fly (49.84). At Kentucky, he was a part of the second place 200-medley relay, splitting 21.49. At the Michigan Quad, he was 10th in the 200-fly (1:51.31). Against North Carolina, he was on the winning 200-medley relay team with a split of 21.20 and was fourth in the 100-fly with a 48.91. At USA Short Course Nationals, he finished 21st in the 200-IM with a 1:49.38 and made the finals in the 100-fly as well with a 24th place finish and a time of 48.84. He was part of the 9th place 4x200 free relay, swimming the third leg in 1:38.57. USA National Championships he swam the 100-meter fly. He was a part of the ninth place 4x100-meter free relay with an anchor of 51.04. He participated in the Arena Pro Series at Charlotte with his best time coming in the 50-meter fly (25.56).
Freshman: David made an immediate impact in the butterfly and individual medley events for the Cardinals. He swam the 100- and 200-butterfly races, along with the 200-IM. During the regular season, David had two of his best times at the Michigan Invite. He went 49.36 in the 100-fly and 1:48.99 in the 200-fly. He had his best time in the 200-IM against UK, going 1:54.34. David bested all of those times at the AAC’s, competing as a scorer, he collected three B-cut times. He finished third in the 200-fly with a time of 1:47.71, went a 47.92 in the 100-fly to finish fourth, and came in at 1:47.76 in the 200-IM, which was also good for fourth place. He was named to the All-Conference squad.
Prep: David Boland hails from Ann Arbor, Michigan where he attended Saline High School and swam for Club Wolverine. While at Saline High School, Boland earned 13 state champion titles, a national record in the 200- medley relay, and was named an 18- time All- American. With Club Wolverine, Boland was a multiple event qualifier for US Open and Junior Nationals.
