• Was productive off the bench as a freshman, averaging 3.9 points, 2.0 rebounds in 13 minutes per game. He had five points and a steal in 16 minutes against Duke in the ACC Tournament.
• Swatted a team-high 11 blocked shots.
• Connected on 49.1 percent of his field goals for the season, including 5-of-10 three-pointers, while slamming six dunks.
• Blocked a season-best three shots twice, at Pittsburgh and at Wake Forest.
• Contributed six points, five rebounds and a season-high matching three blocked shots at Pitt in 14 minutes off the bench.
• Scored a season-best 11 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting with five rebounds in his collegiate debut vs. Evansville. His three dunks in the game tied the Louisville record for most dunks in a freshman debut.
• Scored eight points at Wisconsin, connecting on a season-high 2-of-4 three-pointers.
High School
• Averaged 20.2 points, 11.2 rebounds -- 11th in the state -- and 3.6 blocks as a senior in 2019-20 for Bardstown that achieved a 25-9 mark and reached the regional finals. Traynor connected on 51.9 percent of his field goal attempts, including 33 percent from 3-point range, and produced 22 double-doubles.
• First team 2020 All-State selection by the Courier-Journal, receiving the second-highest voting total for the distinction. He was selected as the Maxpreps Kentucky Player of the Year.
• Honored as the Co-Fifth Region Player of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches. He totaled 30 points, 14 rebounds, six blocked shots, three assists and two steals in the 5th Region semifinals against John Hardin.
• He scored 1,159 points and pulled down a school-record 806 rebounds in his high school career at Bardstown.
• Traynor, who has a 7-2 wingspan, was ranked No. 79 nationally by 247Sports.com, No. 88 by Rivals.com and No. 96 in the ESPN100. He was the No. 14 rated power forward in the nation in the 247Sports composite rankings and was the only Kentucky basketball player ranked among the nation’s top 100 players.
• Selected as a member of the 2020 Kentucky All-Stars, although the two games against the Indiana All-Stars were cancelled due to COVID-19.
• Averaged 11.2 points and 8.6 rebounds in 2018-19 for Bardstown (15-16), which won its sixth straight 19th District championship before falling in the 5th Region quarterfinals.
• The versatile Traynor participated in the Kentucky-Indiana Junior All-Star game in Jeffersonville, Ind. on June 3, scoring 13 points for Kentucky. He had eight points and nine rebounds in a Kentucky win on June 2 in Louisville.
• Traynor’s father Jason Osborne played two years at UofL (1993-95) and was a McDonald’s All-American at Louisville Male High School, where he was Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball in 1993. JJ slept in his dad’s practice jersey as a child.
• Cincinnati, Missouri and DePaul were among the schools Traynor considered before choosing to sign with the Cardinals.
