- Had previously signed with the Cardinals prior to his senior year at Harlan High School in Chicago, where he averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds as a senior in 2004-05.
- Following his senior year at Harlan, Holloway spent time at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. and was an early entry candidate for the 2006 NBA Draft before removing his name from consideration.
- Rated 10th nationally among fifth year players by The Hoop Scoop. As a rising senior in high school, Holloway was rated as the No. 67 prospect by The Hoop Scoop, No. 69 overall and fourth among centers by Rivals.com, and was among the top 100 prospects by Prep Basketball Magazine.
- Averaged 5 points and 4.3 rebounds for the silver medal winning North squad in the 2004 USA Basketball Men's Youth Development Festival.
- Chose Louisville after also considering Cincinnati and DePaul.

- Personal goal at U of L is "to get in perfect shape for the season to be able to play for a long period of time. I also want to become a better rebounder."
- Enjoys bowling and watching movies in his spare time.
- Chose to attend U of L because "of the way the guys work here. I know I can get in shape under Coach Pitino. All the guys here are in great shape."
- Best basketball advice given to him was to "never settle for less, always stay humble and always work hard. That goes for anything -- school, basketball and life."
- His high school coaches Macklin and Andre Peavy had the greatest influence on his athletic career.
- Feels Bernie Mac would be the best actor to play him in a movie.
- Wanted to wear No. 50 because "it's one of the biggest numbers out on the court and I wore it in high school."
- If you walked into his dorm room, the first thing you would notice is a picture of Francisco Garcia.
- Few people know that he really likes to read.
- What impresses him the most about Coach Pitino is "his drive, the way he coaches his players, the way he trains all of his players, and his strive to win."
