Cardinals in the Pros

The University of Louisville men's basketball team has produced 77 NBA Draft picks all-time, making it one of just 10 programs in the country with at least 70 draft picks.
Eighteen Cardinals have played in the NBA over the last 10 years. Louisville's most recent draft pick was David Johnson, who was selected 47th overall by the Toronto Raptors in the 2021 NBA Draft. The program's last first-round selection was Donovan Mitchell, chosen 13th overall by the Denver Nuggets in 2017 and then traded to the Utah Jazz.
Mitchell, now with the Cleveland Cavaliers, has become one of the stars of the league and a five-time NBA All-Star. Additionally, former Cardinal Montrezl Harrell was the 2020 NBA Sixth Man of the Year with the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Cardinals have been represented by a NBA champion in two of the last three seasons. Damion Lee claimed the 2022 title with the Golden State Warriors, while Jordan Nwora took the 2021 crown with the Milwaukee Bucks. Only UofL, Michigan State, UCLA and Arkansas had an alum win the NBA title in both seasons.
Including overseas and the G League, Louisville was expected to be presented by at least 25 players in professional basketball in 2023-24.
