LOUISVILLE ATHLETICS INTERNSHIP - MEDIA RELATIONS/SOCIAL MEDIA
Learning objectives for the Media Relations/Social Media Intern include, but are not limited to:
- Learn the day-to-day responsibilities of covering a sport by working directly with team personnel, colleagues within the Athletic Department, the conference and governing bodies of various sports
- Develop an understanding of in-game sport operations and social media coverage through working a wide variety of home events and games (includes nights and weekends)
- Gain familiarity with stat input programs along with Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, and Premiere software, and web management
- Increase ability to creatively think of story feature ideas to promote student-athletes and coaches in media while creating and executing cutting-edge content to be used across a number of different platforms (e.g. X, Facebook, Instagram) and the website
- Gain experience in managing the implementation of social media campaigns
- Gain journalistic writing ability, using Associated Press style guidelines
- Develop ability to see and read emerging trends, brainstorming best creative implementations to incorporate within Louisville Athletics brand and message
- Develop strong oral communication skills when dealing with media, coaches and student-athletes. Assist student-athletes and coaches with media interviews
- Improve multitasking and time management skills by managing multiple projects and deadlines
