Bio
Senior: Sellers continued to add valuable depth to the Cardinals’ lineup during his final season with his versatility. He won the 400 individual medley (3:55.74), placed fourth in the 100 backstroke (49.30), and took fifth in the 200 backstroke (1:47.61) at the UofL First Chance Invitational. At the Purdue Invitational, he raced to sixth in the 100 backstroke (49.18), eighth in the 200 individual medley (1:49.36), and 17th in the 400 individual medley (3:57.21). Sellers recorded eight top-8 finishes throughout the dual meet season, highlighted by a third-place finish in the 200 butterfly (1:55.48) against Xavier. For his performances in both the pool and in the classroom, Sellers was awarded ACC Honor Roll honors.
Sophomore: Sellers’ versatility was an asset to the Cardinals throughout the course of his sophomore season. At the Louisville First Chance Invitational, he recorded a number of personal best times and took first in both the 200 IM (1:48.55) and 400 IM (3:54.32). He qualified to finals in each of his four events at the IU Invitational, highlighted by an 11th place finish in the 200 back with a time of 1:46.52. In the dual meet season, he scored points against Indiana and Northwestern, including a fifth place finish in the 400 IM in the victory over the Wildcats.
Freshman: Sellers’s versatility proved to be valuable to the Cardinals throughout his freshman campaign. At the UofL Invitational, he recorded first place finishes in both backstroke events, turning in season-best times of 49.59 and 1:49.65 in the 100 and 200 respectively. He also took second in the 400 IM (3:55.15) and third in the 200 IM (1:49.59) at the UofL Invitational. Sellers’s competed in five events at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Columbus, racing the 200-meter IM (2:08.92), 100-meter fly (57.49), 400-meter IM (4:40.13), 200-meter back (2:12.34) and 100-meter back (1:00.94). Sellers also scored points for the Cards in the 400 IM against Michigan and in the 100 back against Indiana.
Prep: Hailing from Flower Mound, Texas, Sellers will add versatility to the Cardinals’ roster. He holds the school record in the 500 free for Flower Mound High School, and was the 2012 state champion in the 200 freestyle for Lakeside Aquatic Club under coach Jason Walter. More recently, Sellers competed for Cardinal Aquatics and was coached by Chris Lindauer. He holds best times of 1:50.26 in the 200 IM and 3:56.17 in the 400 IM.
Personal: Son of Jerri and Shelly Sellers. Born on April 22, 1997.
