The wing heads to The Ville by way of Arkansas
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville men's basketball head coach Pat Kelsey announced the signing of Karter Knox on Tuesday.
"Karter is as well-rounded of a player as any other player in the portal this cycle," said Kelsey. "His size as a big, physical wing is extremely valuable, but it's his skill set and motor that will allow him to transition seamlessly into our system. He thrives in transition with an ability to attack the rim or knock down shots anywhere on the floor. The versatility and flexibility that he adds to our lineup brings a dimension that has been coveted not only at the collegiate level but at the NBA level as well. We can't wait to see what he does in a Cardinal uniform."
The 6-6, 220-pound rising junior joins the Cardinals' roster after two seasons at Arkansas.
As a sophomore, Knox appeared in 22 games, starting in 18 of those contests. He averaged 8.1 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting near 38% from the 3-point line and 46% from the floor overall.
The Tampa, Fla., native recorded his first career double-double against UCA on November 11 with 19 points and 10 rebounds. He recorded another double-double with 17 points and 10 boards against Jackson State on Nov. 21. His season-high 20-point performance came in a 93-86 victory over Texas Tech on Dec. 13, where he went 8 of 11 from the floor.
Prior to his sophomore season with the Razorbacks, Knox was voted Preseason All-SEC by the league's media and coaches.
Between his freshman and sophomore years, Knox tested the waters of the NBA Draft and was invited to the 2025 NBA Draft Combine before choosing to return to school.
During the 2024-25 season, Knox's freshman year, he started in 24 games for Arkansas, appearing in 36 total. He averaged 8.3 points and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 46.2% from the field, 35% at the arc and 80.2% at the charity stripe.
Over the final 18 games of the Razorbacks' season, he averaged 10.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 30.9 minutes while shooting 52.3% from the field, 43.5% from the 3-point line and 90.3% from the free throw line. He scored a career-high 21 points against UMES on Nov. 25, 2024, which was only his sixth game in college.
Knox was a McDonald's All-American and Naismith Trophy High School All-American Honorable Mention out of Overtime Elite. Out of high school, he was consistently ranked as a four-star recruit and in the top-25 nationally in his signing class.
Knox's father, Kevin Sr., played wide receiver at Florida State and went on to the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals. His older brother, Kevin II, was the ninth pick of the 2018 NBA Draft and was the SEC Freshman of the Year at Kentucky. His brother, Kobe, played three seasons at South Florida before playing last season at South Carolina.
