LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team dropped its first match of the season to Cornell 4-0 on Friday night at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

Cornell 4, Louisville 0
The Cornell duo of Eric Verdes and Rodrigo Fernandes defeated Louisville's No. 21-ranked tandem of Matei Onofrei and Andre' Steinbach, 6-4, on Court 1. No. 90-ranked pairing Rethin Pranav and Rushil Kosla claimed the doubles point for the Big Red on Court 2 with a 6-3 victory over No. 59-ranked Walid Ahouda and Hamza El Amine.

Cornell secured the final three points to clinch the match on Courts 1, 2 and 4. No. 120 Fernandes defeated No. 68 Ahouda 6-1, 6-4 on Court 1 before Verdes defeated No. 122 El Amine 6-2, 6-2 on Court 2. No. 113-ranked Pinzon clinched the match for the Big Red with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 win over Onofrei.

Louisville will move on to play Northwestern in Evanston, Ill., on Sunday, Jan. 18. First serve is set for 1 p.m ET. Following the first match, the Cards will play Chicago State at 6 p.m. ET.
