Cards Bounce Back by Sweeping Road Doubleheader

CHICAGOÂ - The University of Louisville men's tennis team rebounded in a dominant way, sweeping its lone road doubleheader of the season. The Cards started off the day by defeating Northwestern 4-1 before traveling south to take down Chicago State 4-0.Â
Louisville 4, Northwestern 1
The Cards kicked off doubles competition with a swift 6-2 win on Court 2 by the No.59-ranked pair of Walid Ahouda and Hamza El Amine. Russell Lokko and Pedro Cressoni clinched the point with a 6-4 on Court 3, remaining undefeated as a pair on the season.Â
Taking a 1-0 lead into singles competition, Ahouda controlled his match on Court 1 and was first to finish with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Northwestern's Carter Pate.Â
Senior Andre' Steinbach took down his opponent in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3 to put UofL within a point of clinching.Â
El Amine put up a tough fight on his court, but ultimately dropped his match 6-4, 6-4 to give the Wildcats their sole point of the match.Â
Matei Onofrei led the Cards to a 4-1 victory with his win on Court 4 in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4 over senior Chad Miller.Â

The Cougars played the match down two players, so they forfeited a doubles court and two singles courts.Â
Freshman Jerald Carroll teamed up with Lokko to earn his first win in a Louisville uniform, earning a 6-1 on Court 2 and clinching the doubles point for the Cards.Â
Playing in a singles match for the first time in the spring, Lokko was the only UofL player who finished, grabbing a dominant 6-2, 6-0 win on Court 4.Â
