Cards Fourth after 36 Holes at the Gopher Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Cooper Claycomb and Warren Thomis of the University of Louisville men's golf team each finished at 1-under-par after two rounds of the Gopher Invitational as the Cards opened the fall season Sunday in fourth place.

As a team, the Cardinals are in fourth place after shooting a 3-over-par 571 after the first 36 holes of the fall season, The Cards shot a a 6-over 290 in the first round and battled back with a 3-under-par 281 to enter the final round eight shots behind current leader West Virginia, which leads the tournament at 5-under-par.

Claycomb and Thomis are tied for 13th after their two impressive rounds on Sunday. Claycomb opened with a 71 and followed up with a 1-under-par 70, while Thomis rebounded from his first round 73 to shot a 3-under-par 68 during second round action.

Brady Smith is tied for 16th after his even-par day with his 72-70=142, while Andrew Tan is in 42nd after shooting a 5-over-par 147. Patrick Keeling is tied for 49th after his rounds of 6-over-par.

The Cardinals begin final round play on Monday beginning at 9:10 a.m.
