Louisville Sends Four Players to ITA All Americans

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team is sending Andre' Steinbach, Hamza El Amine, Pedro Cressoni and Walid Ahouda to compete at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.

The tournament runs Sept. 20 through Sept. 28, but all four players will get their singles start on Saturday, Sept. 20 in the prequalifying round.

Singles Prequalifying Round (Saturday, Sept. 20)

Pedro Cressoni (LOU) vs Ivan Dreycopp (UNCCh) - 10 am ET
Walid Ahouda (LOU) vs Henry Jefferson (UF) - 10 am ET
Hamza El Amine (LOU) vs Edoardo Cherie Ligniere (CLEM) - 1 pm ET
Andre' Steinbach (LOU) vs Rafael Segado Esteve (MIA) - 2 pm ET

Ahouda and El Amine are ranked at No. 51 in the ITA preseason doubles poll and are gearing up to make their first collegiate appearance as a duo. They will get a bye from the prequalifying round and get their start as a pair on Monday, Sept. 22 with matchup information to be announced at a later time.

Under the NCAA pilot program, this tournament is the first of four events where individuals will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championship. The eight main draw quarterfinalists and two feed-in consolation finalists, 10 players total, will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship in November.

The pre-qualifying draw at the ITA All-American Championships feeds into the qualifying draw then the main draw. The main draw of the championship runs from Wednesday, Sept. 24 through Sunday, Sept. 28.
