The Cards defeated Kent State 42-3 during the 2017 season in their last game against a team from the MAC. Head coach Jeff Brohm is 3-1 all-time against teams from the MAC, including a 59-31 win over Bowling Green on August 29, 2014, which was the first game of his head coaching career and his debut at Western Kentucky.
Notes on Louisville
UofL is coming off a bye week after starting the season 2-0, including most recently a 28-14 win over James Madison on Friday, September 5. Brohm became the fourth Louisville coach to start 2-0 in three straight seasons. The Cards are looking to extend Brohm's streak and go 3-0 for the third-straight season.
Louisville's defense has started out hot, leading the country in sacks with 5.0 per game, including defensive lineman Clev Lubin's nation-leading 3.5 sacks. The Cards also rank seventh nationally in passing yards allowed with 106.5 per game. TJ Quinn was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Linebacker of the Week after leading the Cardinal defense to the James Madison victory, while Ron English was named ACC Coordinator of the Week by CBS Sports.
Offensively, running back Isaac Brown ranks ninth in the nation in rushing yards per game with 115.0, including a 104-yard, 12-carry performance against James Madison. This marks the seventh time in 15 career games that Brown has surpassed 100 yards. His 12.78 yards per carry ranks fourth nationally.
Notes on Bowling Green
Head coach Eddie George is in his first year with the Falcons starting 2-1, including last Saturday's 23-13 victory over Liberty. Bowling Green is 4-7 all-time against current members of the ACC, including its first-ever win against an ACC member versus Georgia Tech in 2023.
On the offensive side of the ball, tight end Jyrin Johnson has 10 receptions for 138 yards this season. He ranks 17th nationally among tight ends in receiving yards and 18th nationally in catches. Both of his totals lead MAC tight ends.
Defensively, linebacker Dorian Pringle is the only player in the nation with 25 or more tackles, 6.0 or more TFLs, and at least one interception. His 6.0 tackles for loss rank fourth in the country. Pringle and cornerback Kal-El Pascal are two of only four players in the nation with 20 or more tackles, at least one interception and at least one forced fumble.
The Falcons rank tied for third in the nation with 13-first time starters this season. They featured nine debut starters in the opener, then two more in each of the past two games.
