No. 12 Louisville Travels to Notre Dame for Friday Night Match

The Cards are 5-1-0 coming off a narrow loss to Virginia last week.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The 12th-ranked University of Louisville men's soccer team continues Atlantic Coast Conference play on Friday, Sept. 19, traveling to face Notre Dame at Alumni Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET and the match will be streamed on ACCNX.
The Cardinals (5-1-0, 1-1-0 ACC) look to bounce back after suffering their first setback of the season, a narrow 1-0 loss to No. 24 Virginia on Sept. 13. Prior to that, Louisville opened the year with five consecutive shutout victories, highlighted by a 1-0 upset of No. 1 Stanford. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Alex Svetanoff has been key to the early success, posting five clean sheets and a 0.17 goals-against average through six matches.
Sophomore forward Chase Vazquez leads the Louisville attack with three goals and two assists, including game-winners against top-ranked Stanford and Ohio State. Freshman forward Quinton Wilson has also made an immediate impact with two goals, while sophomore Michael Lee has contributed two goals and two assists. In total, 14 different Cards have tallied a goal or an assist this season, highlighting the team's depth offensively.
Louisville has been one of the nation's most balanced teams statistically, with a 13-1 goal differential, a 103-50 advantage in total shots, and a 42-17 edge in corners. The Cards lead the ACC in assists (17) and rank second in the league in goals-against average.
Notre Dame (3-1-2, 1-0-0 ACC) enters the contest with two consecutive wins and holds a 14-10-2 advantage in the all-time series. However, Louisville has had recent success against the Irish, winning six of the last 10 meetings, including back-to-back road victories in South Bend in 2022 (W, 2-0) and 2023 (W, 4-3). In the most recent matchup, Notre Dame earned a 2-1 result at Lynn Stadium in Sept. 2024.
