Cards Open 2025 Football Season at Home Against Eastern Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville Football team will open its season and kick off year three under head coach Jeff Brohm Saturday at 3 p.m. ET against Eastern Kentucky inside L&N Stadium.

The last time Louisville played Eastern Kentucky was in 2021, when the Cardinals won 30-3. This will be Brohm's first time coaching against Eastern Kentucky in his career. Louisville holds a 20-8-1 advantage in the series all-time, dating back to 1927.
The Colonels are led by head coach Walt Wells, who is in his sixth season at Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels finished the 2024 season with an 8-5 record, highlighted by a trip to the FCS playoffs, where they lost 22-17 in the first round to Villanova.
Louisville is 57-42-6 all-time in season openers. The Cards are 2-0 in season openers under Brohm. The 2024 season started with a 62-0 victory over Austin Peay. The season opener in 2023, Brohm's first game as head coach of the Cardinals, was a 39-34 victory over ACC foe Georgia Tech in the Aflac Kickoff Game.
ROSTER NOTES
On the offensive side of the ball, the Cardinals have a plethora of weapons led at quarterback by redshirt-senior Miller Moss, who is in his first season at UofL after transferring in from USC. Moss is coming off a nine-game 2024 campaign that saw him throw for 2,555 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Sophomore running-back Isaac Brown, who burst onto the scene last season as a true-freshman, tallied over 1,500 all-purpose yards and 12 total touchdowns for the Cards. Brown took home freshman All-America honors and was named ACC Rookie and Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Senior wide receiver Chris Bell returns for his fourth season in a Cardinals' uniform and is coming off an impressive 2024 season that saw him tally 43 catches, 737 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Cards will be led by experience. Linebacker TJ Quinn is returning for his redshirt-senior season. Quinn has led Louisville in tackles the two previous seasons (82 in 2024 and 87 in 2023).
Clev Lubin, a redshirt-junior defensive lineman, joins the Cards as a highly-touted transfer portal addition after spending the 2024 season at Coastal Carolina. Lubin finished last season ranked 15th nationally in sacks with 9.5 and recorded 12.5 tackles for loss in just 10 contests.
Senior defensive-back transfer Rodney Johnson joins the Cardinals after having previous stops at Southern University and Stephen F. Austin. Last season at Southern, Johnson recorded 35 tackles, five tackles for loss and one interception.
