Men’s Tennis Alum Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff Joins Staff

Head coach Rodrigo da Silva has hired Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff as an assistant coach
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville men's tennis head coach Rodrigo da Silva has added Cardinal Forever Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff to his staff as an assistant coach.
"We are thrilled to welcome Christopher back to our team," da Silva said on the hire. "His strong work ethic, professionalism and dedication to excellence make him a perfect fit for our program. I am confident he will have a positive impact on our players and help us continue to raise our standards every day."
"I'm incredibly grateful to be back at Louisville, this time as a coach," said Kougoucheff. "This program shaped me as a player and as a person, and I'm excited to give back and help our guys reach their full potential. I want to thank Coach Rodrigo for trusting me with this opportunity, and I can't wait to work alongside him to keep building something special here. Go Cards!"
Morin-Kougoucheff was a three-time All-ACC selection over his four seasons with the Cardinals, picking up second team honors in 2017 and 2018 and third team accolades in 2019. He reached his career best singles ranking at No. 36 during his senior season (2018-19). He served the Cards as a team captain in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
As a junior, he competed in both NCAA Championships for singles and doubles after ranking as high as No. 53 in the ITA Singles rankings and No. 6 in doubles with partner Parker Wynn. The Biarritz, France, native is tied for 10th on Louisville's most doubles wins in a single season list for his 29 victories during his junior campaign.
As a sophomore in 2017, Morin-Kougoucheff played in the lead singles spot and No. 3 doubles spot during the NCAA Championship when Louisville defeated UCF in the opening round of the tournament. It was the first time the Cardinals had advanced to the second round since 2011.
Morin-Kougoucheff was a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete, three-time All-ACC Academic team member, four-time ACC Academic Honor Roll honoree and earned the Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar Award. He was selected as Freshman of the Year in 2016 and Junior of the Year in 2018 at the Louie's.
Following his graduation from UofL with a bachelor's degree in business administration in finance, Morin-Kougoucheff spent a season as a volunteer assistant coach with Duke men's tennis before coaching high performance tennis in Miami at the Royal Palm Tennis Club for several years. Additionally, he has been a sparring partner for Venus Williams and Emma Raducanu.
