The senior has now been on two consecutive watch lists for the most prestigious award in collegiate track & field after being added to the list on April 16.
NEW ORLEANS, La. – University of Louisville women's track & field senior Jayden Ulrich has been recognized as one of 10 student-athletes on the Women's Pre-Outdoor Conference Championships Watch List for The Bowerman, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday.
After becoming the first athlete in program history to be included on a watch list for The Bowerman on April 16, the senior has now been included on two consecutive watch lists for the most prestigious award in collegiate track & field.
The award considers athletes' performances during the NCAA indoor track & field and outdoor track & field seasons with the performance window running from December 1 of the preceding year through the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the year in which the award is given.
Over the course of her senior season, Ulrich has continued to blossom into one of the best young throwers in the world, notably posting a personal-best mark of 69.39m (227-8) in the discus throw at the Oklahoma Throws Series World Invitational on April 12. The throw stands as the second-best mark in NCAA history and the third-best mark in United States history, while also resetting both the Louisville program record and ACC conference record in the event.
Ulrich currently leads the NCAA among eligible marks in the women's discus throw with a mark of 66.14m (217-0) that came in her season debut at the USF Alumni Invitational on March 22, and also ranks fourth nationally in the women's shot put with a toss of 18.52m (60-9.25) at the Jim Click Shootout & Multis on April 4.
The native of East Alton, Ill. also posted a dominant indoor season that ended in the senior becoming the first athlete in program history to be named the USTFCCCA Southeast Regional Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year.
Ulrich earned First Team All-American honors in the event after finishing sixth at the NCAA Indoor Championships for the second consecutive season and captured her second straight ACC title in the event at the ACC Indoor Championships. She also shattered her own Louisville program record with a toss of 18.40m (60-4.5) at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational on February 1.
