Cards Fall at No.30 Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 4-0 Sunday afternoon against No.30 Notre Dame at the Eck Tennis Pavilion. The Cardinals are now 9-6 on the season and just 1-5 in conference play.
In doubles action, the pairing of Germany Davis and Lika Peresypkina lost 6-1 at the No.3 spot while the duo of Alice Otis and Allie Gretkowski fell 6-3 on Court 1. The Spaniard duo of Berta Miret and Elena Noguero held a slight 4-3 advantage on Court 2 before the match was ultimately abandoned, giving the doubles point to the Irish.
Shifting to singles play, Notre Dame's Rylie Hanford made quick work of Davis 6-0, 6-0 to extend the lead for the Fighting Irish. At the No. 6 spot, Miret took a 6-2, 6-3 lost to put Notre Dame within a point from clinching the match. Noguero battled throughout the first set on Court 3 but ultimately lost 7-5 and went on to lose the second set 6-3 to give the Irish the win.
Up next the Cards will wrap-up its three-match road stint against Virginia and Virginia Tech on Friday, March 28 and Sunday, March 30, respectively. First serve on Friday is slated for 4 p.m., with Sunday's match scheduled to begin a noon.
