Mayew Wins Singles Match; Cards Fall 4-1 at No. 54 Georgia Tech

Louisville drops second ACC match of the season
ATLANTA, Ga. – University of Louisville men's tennis drops its second ACC match 4-1 to No. 54 Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon.
Top-ranked Georgia Tech duo Nate Bonetto and Gianluca Carlini quickly defeated Enrique Peña and Hamza El Amine, in the two-spot for Louisville, 6-1. Andre' Steinbach and Kosuke Nakanishi dropped their match in the top doubles spot and the Yellow Jackets claimed the doubles point.
Will Mayew opened singles for the Cardinals, winning his match in a dominating 6-2, 6-0 fashion. He was the first singles match of the day to finish.
Steinbach ultimately fell in straight sets in the No. 2 spot, 6-4, 6-1 to his opponent, giving the Yellow Jackets a 2-1 lead in the match. Freshman Nakanishi was the next Card to fall, defeated 6-2, 6-3 in the fourth spot in the lineup.
Sophomore Piet Steveker dropped his singles match on Court 6 7-5, 6-3, relinquishing the clinching match point to Georgia Tech.
The Cardinals return to Louisville for a three-match homestand beginning with North Carolina on Friday at 4 p.m. ET.
