
Alyssa Zabala Named ACC Co-Pitcher of the Week

The junior went 3-0 on the weekend, shutting out No. 25 FAU
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Alyssa Zabala of the University of Louisville softball team was named an ACC Co-Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. This marks the first ACC weekly honor of Zabala's career.
Zabala had an outstanding weekend at the Joan Joyce Classic in Boca Raton, Fla. The junior went 3-0 on the weekend with a shutout against No. 25 FAU. She recorded a 0.75 ERA in 18.2 innings, tallying 12 strikeouts and allowing only two runs and four walks in 79 at-bats.
The Miami native pitched a complete game against No. 25 FAU and moved to 4-0 on the season with the win. She ranks second in the ACC in wins and third in the conference with 28.1 innings pitched this season. She also ties for first in games started in the conference with five.
The Cardinals have not seen ACC Player of the Week honors since 2023 (Korbe Otis – three times, Sarah Gordon, Taylor Roby) and pitcher of the week honors since 2019 (Danielle Watson – co).
Virginia Tech's Emma Lemley was also named co-pitcher of the week after pitching her second consecutive perfect game against No. 21 Northwestern last weekend.
The Cards will play USF next in Tampa, Fla. The game is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. ET and can be viewed on ESPN+.
