February 01, 2025 | Women's Basketball
This is the first of three-straight home games for the Cardinals
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville women's basketball team (15-6, 8-2 ACC) returns home after a long break and are set to begin a three-game homestand this weekend. The Cardinals welcome No. 3 Notre Dame (18-2, 9-0 ACC) to the Yum! Center to begin the homestand on Sunday. It is the Pink Game where Louisville women's basketball joins the fight against breast cancer and honors local breast cancer survivors. The Cardinals and Fighting Irish are set to square off at noon and it will be broadcast on ESPN2.
The Cardinals are back home for their first home game since January 16. Louisville has only had eight home games this season, the fewest in the ACC and tied for the fewest among Power 4 teams ranked in the Top 50 in the NET rankings. Five of Louisville's eight remaining games will be at home.
Louisville has one of the toughest schedules in the ACC and in the country this season. On the whole, Louisville has the 15th toughest schedule in the country, which is the third toughest in the ACC behind Duke (2nd) and NC State (8th). Of Louisville's remaining schedule, it is the 13th toughest schedule in the country, which is the highest of any ACC team. Of its eight remaining games, six are against teams ranked in the most recent Top 25 polls. Three of the six games will be against teams inside the Top 10.
The Cardinals are coming off a three-game road trip where they won two out of three games. Heading into this homestand, the Cards have won nine of the last 10 games dating back to December 15.
A big part of the winning stretch has been freshman Tajianna Roberts, who leads the team in scoring this season with 13.0 points per game. She has scored in double figures in all nine of the Cards recent wins, including a career best 23 against Memphis and 22 in their most recent win over SMU. She has scored in double figures in 17 games this season, the most of any ACC freshman this season.
Jayda Curry has also picked up the scoring over the past couple months for the Cardinals. She is second on the team with 11.9 points per game and has scored in double figures in nine of the last 10 games. Curry had a season-best 21 points against Miami and led the team with 19 points in the road win over Virginia.
Nyla Harris has been the most consistent shooter for the Cardinals this season. She leads the team with a 60.8 field goal percentage (90-for-148) this season and has an even better mark in ACC play. In conference games, Harris is shooting 64.9 percent (50-for-77) from the floor. That mark leads the league in conference games this season and is significantly higher than the second-best mark in conference play. Rose Micheaux is second in ACC play with a 54.0 field goal percentage (54-for-100).
