December 13, 2025 | Women's Basketball
North Carolina is the fourth ranked opponent the Cardinals have faced this season
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — For the first time in nearly a month, the No. 22/20 Louisville women's basketball team (9-3, 1-0 ACC) will be playing a game outside the city of Louisville this weekend. The Cardinals are heading to the triangle for a Top-20 clash with No. 12/11 North Carolina (9-2) on Sunday, December 14. The Cardinals and Tar Heels will square off from Carmichael Arena at 4 p.m. ET and it will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
Earlier this week, the Cardinals closed out a stretch where seven of their last eight games came at home and all eight were played in the city of Louisville. The Cards went 6-2 over that stretch and have won five of their last six games heading into this weekend's matchup with the Tar Heels.
The 12th-ranked Tar Heels will be the fourth ranked opponent the Cardinals will face so far this season. They have already played No. 1 UConn, No. 3 South Carolina and No. 20 Kentucky over the first month-plus of the season. Next week, the Cardinals will square off with No. 18 Tennessee before the Christmas break.
Louisville is coming off a 93-62 win over Ball State this past Wednesday to conclude the homestand. The Cards got strong contributions from its bench once again as they scored 50 points in the win. The Cards average 36.1 bench points per game this season, a mark that leads the ACC and ranks third nationally. The Louisville bench has outscored its opponents on its own three times this season.
Anaya Hardy tied a season high with 12 points and had a team-best 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. She is tied with Laura Ziegler with a team-best three doubles-doubles. Hardy has burst onto the scene in her sophomore season and become an important part of the rotation. Since the Morehead State game on Nov. 19, Hardy has played 10 or more minutes in seven of the last eight games. She has played 20 minutes or more in six of the last eight and made the starting lineup in each of the last three games.
Skylar Jones led the team with 20 points against Ball State, her second 20-point outing of the season. She was 7-for-12 from the floor and added seven rebounds to tie a season high for the second straight game. Five Cardinals ended the night in double figures with Ziegler (15 pts.), Mackenly Randolph (12 pts.) and Imari Berry (10 pts.) joining Jones and Hardy.
