No. 22/20 Louisville Runs Away With 93-62 Victory Over Ball State

The Cards scored 90-plus points for the fifth time this season
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The No. 22/20 Louisville women's basketball team (9-3, 1-0 ACC) defeated Ball State, 93-62, following a strong defensive effort in which Louisville held Ball State to 21-for-59 shooting (35.8%). The Cards improved to 7-0 at home against unranked opponents this season.
Louisville's defense was strong from the start, recording five steals in the first quarter in addition to holding Ball State to 3-for-12 (25%) from the field. In addition to tallying two steals in the first quarter, Skylar Jones led the team in scoring with nine points in the quarter.
Early in the second quarter, Louisville went on a 13-2 run that helped them build their lead to 50-25 at halftime. Jones continued to leave her mark offensively, finishing the half with 17 points on 6-for-8 shooting including 3-for-4 from three. Laura Ziegler also finished the half with double figures, adding 11 points on 4-for-5 shooting.
As a team, Louisville shot 19-for-40 from the field (48%) including 6-for-15 (40%) from three, scoring 50 points in the first half for the third time this season. Defensively, they held Ball State to 8-for-25 (32%) from the field and 0-for-9 from three.
Louisville did not slow down in the second half as Mackenly Randolph and Imari Berry reached double figures in the third quarter. Randolph would finish the game with 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting, and Berry finished with 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting including 2-for-3 from three.
In the fourth quarter, Anaya Hardy would also reach double figures in scoring, with 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting. She would also finish with a double-double, securing a team-high 10 rebounds. It is her third double-double of the season.
Ziegler finished the game with 15 points, sinking all six of her free throw attempts. Jones would finish with a team high 20 points on 7-for-12 shooting including 3-for-6 from three, marking the second time on the season she scored 20 or more points. She also finished with a team-high three steals. Louisville totaled 10 steals for the fourth time this season.
Louisville will travel to Chapel Hill for a ranked conference matchup against the No. 12/11 North Carolina Tar Heels on Sunday, December 14. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will be broadcast on ACC Network.
