The 6-3 guard will come to Louisville by way of the NBA G-League
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville men's basketball head coach Pat Kelsey announced Tuesday the signing of London Johnson.
"We are excited to welcome London Johnson to our Louisville family," said Kelsey on the addition. "London is a very talented point guard with size who also has the ability to play off the ball. London brings experience, talent, toughness and a winning mindset to our organization. He is a trailblazer in a lot of ways and has handled the unwarranted scrutiny like the mature, classy young man that he is. In my opinion, he deserves an opportunity to play collegiate basketball like every other player within his five-year window from high school. Times have changed and we choose to embrace change rather than just complain about it…especially when it creates opportunities for student athletes like London. Like all of the players that are welcomed into our organization, his life is about to change for the better, which is what we do, and we can't wait to get him to campus to start that process."
The 6-3 guard out of Norcross, Ga., will head to The Ville from the NBA G-League. Johnson will join the Cardinals this winter, redshirting the remainder of the 2025-26 season with the intent to play in 2026-27.
Through three seasons in the G-League, Johnson has played in 100 contests, averaging 8.3 points and 3.4 assists per game.
In his first two years in the league, Johnson competed with the Ignite team, averaging 10.1 points, 2.9 assists and 1.9 rebounds in his debut season before improving to 10.6 points, 5.1 assists and 2.2 boards in the 2023-24 season, his second in the league.
In 2024-25, he played for both the Maine Red Claws, Boston's G-League team, and the Cleveland Charge. Over the course of the year, he averaged 3.2 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 13.2 minutes per game.
Out of high school, Johnson was a consensus four-star recruit and was one of the top players in Georgia in his class before reclassifying and joining G-League Ignite.
Johnson led Norcross High School to a GHSA Class 7A State Championship in his junior season, scoring 27 points and grabbing eight boards in the victory. He was a Gatorade Player of the Year finalist and was named to the Atlanta Tip-Off All-Metro Team.
Johnson previously represented Jamaica in the FIBA CentroBasket U17 competition in Mexico in 2021. He averaged 36.0 points across five games while shooting 56.1% from the floor. He added in 9.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game as a 17 year old.
