
Conwell & Brown Jr. Selected to Preseason All-ACC First Team; Cardinals Picked Second

Louisville was the only team to land two players on the Preseason All-ACC First Team
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – University of Louisville men's basketball claimed two spots on the Preseason All-ACC Team, the Athletic Coast Conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Senior guard Ryan Conwell and freshman guard Mikel Brown Jr. were tabbed to the Preseason All-ACC First Team. The Louisville pair was the only duo from a school selected to the First Team. Joining them on the First Team were Duke's Cameron Boozer, NC State's Darrion Williams and Notre Dame's Markus Burton.
As a program, Louisville was selected second in the ACC Preseason Poll with 15 first-place votes.
Conwell enters the 2025-26 season with 1,353 career points in his three collegiate seasons. Over the course of his career, he has shot 39.3% from 3-point range, netting 236 of 598 attempts.
The Indianapolis, Ind., native started in all 34 games for the Musketeers, averaging 16.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He shot 45% from the floor, including a 41.3% mark from long range, and 82.8% at the charity stripe.
Conwell was a Third-Team All-Big East honoree, finishing third in the league in 3-point percentage, fourth in free throw percentage and 10th in field goal percentage.
Prior to his time in Cincinnati, Conwell spent his sophomore year at Indiana State where he started in all 38 games for the Sycamores. He averaged 16.6 points, 5.8 boards, 2.5 assists and 1.1 steals per contest, leading Indiana State all the way to the 2024 NIT Championship game.
Conwell was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Year in addition to MVC Second Team and All-Tournament Team honors. The 6-4 guard spent his freshman season at South Florida, averaging 5.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.
Brown Jr. suited up for USA Basketball this past summer, playing with the U19 National Team and winning a gold medal in the FIBA World Cup. He also helped USA Basketball win a gold medal in the FIBA U18 AmeriCup in the summer of 2024.
Originally from Orlando, Fla., Brown Jr. spent his final prep season playing at DME Academy, becoming one of the top three scorers in the state of Florida after averaging 29.6 points per game in his senior year. He went on to become a McDonald's All-American and won the 3-point contest at the McDonald's All-American Games. The 6-5 point guard was also semifinalist for the Naismith Trophy Boys High School Player of the Year.
Brown Jr. was a five-star recruit and the No. 7 player in the Class of 2025 at the time of his signing, which he announced at Louisville's 83-70 victory over North Carolina on New Year's Day. He was the No. 2 point guard in the class according to 247Sports.
