LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Three University of Louisville track & field athletes have punched their tickets to the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships, as announced by the NCAA on Tuesday. The championship meet will be hosted in Boston, Mass. at the TRACK at New Balance from Mar. 7-9.
Trey Allen, Brion Stephens and Jayden Ulrich all earned spots in the field with qualifying marks earned throughout the season that stood in the top-16 nationally in their respective events.
Allen returns to the national meet in the men's high jump for the third consecutive indoor season after finishing in a tie for third last season and placing eighth in the event in 2022. The redshirt senior boasts the third-best mark in the nation entering the competition after clearing a bar of 2.24m (7-4.25) in his season opener at the KTCCCA College Opener in December.
Stephens will join Allen in the men's high jump for the second consecutive season after qualifying for the national meet last year as a freshman. Before finishing as the ACC runner-up in the event over the weekend, Stephens posted a mark of 2.22m (7-3.25) at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic that places him in a tie for fifth nationally.
Ulrich is also set to return to the national meet for the second consecutive season in the women's shot put after qualifying last season while competing for Indiana. The junior's mark of 17.70m (58-1) at the Eagle Elite Invitational currently stands eighth nationally, while she also claimed the ACC title in the event last weekend with a heave of 17.45m (57-3).
