Cardinals to Host Grambling State
December 11, 2024 | Women's Basketball
The Cardinals have back-to-back home games this week for the first time this season
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville women's basketball team have been out on the road for a majority of the opening month of the season but are set for their first back-to-back home games of the season this week. The two-game homestand is set to kick off Thursday night as the Cardinals host Grambling State at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals and Tigers are set to square off at 7 p.m. ET and the game will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
Louisville comes into Thursday's game looking to snap a two game losing streak after facing two Top 15 teams last week. Since head coach Jeff Walz took over in the 2007-08 season, the Cardinals have been able to bounce back quickly following a loss. Over his 18 seasons, the Cardinals are 95-26 all-time following a loss and are 2-1 this season after being 8-1 last season after a loss. The Cardinals have never lost three games in a row during non-conference play in the Walz era. They have only lost three games in a row four times and have not done it since the 2011-12 season.
The Cardinals have also been extremely consistent at home following a loss, especially since the KFC Yum! Center opened in the 2010-11 season. In the 15 years of the Yum! Center, the Cardinals have only lost back-to-back home games once and it did not occur during non-conference play. Since Walz has taken over, the Cardinals have lost back-to-back home games just four times.
