UofL posted a 5-2 mark in doubles and a 8-8 mark in singles at the Notre Dame Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - University of Louisville men's tennis had a strong showing in its final fall tournament of the season, the Notre Dame Invitational. The tournament had a mini hidden dual format, in which the doubles tandems would play each other followed by the doubles pairs splitting off to play each other in singles.

The Cardinals went 5-2 on the weekend in doubles matches, with sophomores Miguel Avendaño and Kosuke Nakanishi winning three straight before falling in the championship match. They defeated opponents from Ohio State, Illinois and Notre Dame on their way to the finals.

Junior Will Mayew and Enrique Peña posted a 2-1 mark, taking down pairs from Michigan and Northwestern.

Mayew and Avendaño leave the weekend with the best singles marks for the Cardinals, both going 3-1 over the three-day event. Both of the Cards were victorious in straight sets in all three of their wins.

Nakanishi beat an opponent from Illinois 6-1, 6-3 while Peña beat a player from Northwestern with the same score.

Louisville men's tennis has concluded action for the fall and will return in January for the start of the team NCAA championship season.
