Elena Scott Advances to the Final 14 Player of the Year Nominees

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The No. 3-ranked University of Louisville's libero, Elena Scott, has been named as one of 14 semifinalists for the 2024 Division I Player of the Year.

Last year, Scott was First team All-ACC, All=Pitt Regional, AVCA All-East Region and AVCA Second Team All-American. She is the reigning AVCA Defensive Player of the Year and is ranked third all-time in digs. One of the Cards' team captains, she is a three time All-East Region Selection, a two-time AVCA All-American and a three-time member of the All ACC Academic squad.

The AVCA created a Watch List for its 2024 Division I Player of the Year Award, presented by Nike Volleyball. The inaugural list, revealed Sept. 20, included 36 players, and the committee added 16 other players in mid-October.

The Watch List has now been narrowed down to 14 semifinalists. The first group of seven players—see names below—have been announced, and the second group will be revealed and added to the list Thursday, Nov. 14.

The last step is announcing the finalists, and that information will be released in mid-December before the AVCA Convention. The 2024 AVCA Player of the Year will be announced on Friday, Dec. 20, in Louisville, KY, during the Convention.
