
Cardinals Win The Robbie Tournament

Thienna Huynh finished tied for first overall
OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. — The Louisville women's golf team led wire-to-wire and picked up the tournament win at The Robbie held at the Highlands course at Hampton Cove on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Sunday afternoon. It is the Cardinals first tournament win since 2021 when they finished tied for first at the Illini Invitational. It is the first solo tournament win since 2019 when they won the Cardinal Cup.
Louisville tallied a team score of 7-over-par 871 for the tournament, their best team-tournament score this season. The Cardinals had a 38-stroke lead of the second-place finisher in the tournament.
Junior Thienna Huynh picked up her first ever tournament victory this weekend after she finished tied for first overall at 1-over-par 217. She fired a 2-over-par 74 in the final round to finish tied for the individual lead. Coming into this season, her best individual finish was tied for 10th overall.
One stroke behind Huynh was sophomore Millie Cottrell who had her best round of the weekend on Sunday. Cottrell carded a career-best 3-under-par 69 in the final round to finish the tournament 2-over-par 218 and in third place. The 218 tournament score is also a career best mark.
One stroke behind Cottrell was Carmen Griffiths as she finished tied for fourth overall at 3-over-par 219 for the tournament. It is Griffiths second top-five finish this season after she was tied for second at the Cardinal Cup. In the final round on Sunday, Griffiths tallied a 5-over-par 75.
Continuing the trend and one stroke behind Griffiths was Beatriz Barrios as she finished sixth overall at 4-over-par 220 for the tournament. She tallied a 2-over-par 74 in the final round and this is her first Top-10 finish this season.
Veronika Exposito was the fifth of six Cardinals to finish in the Top-10 of the tournament as she finished tied for seventh overall at 6-over-par 222. She shot a 4-over-par 76 in the final round on Sunday.
Bailey Burkett led the pair of individuals for the Cardinals as she finished tied for ninth overall at 7-over-par 223. She shot a season-best 1-under-par 71 in the final round to finish within the Top-10 overall. Gabbi Bentancourt finished tied for 15th overall at 11-over-par 227 for the tournament.
This concludes the fall season for the Cardinals. They will be back in action in the spring when they have a match against Indiana and Kentucky in Naples, Florida on January 21. Their first tournament of the spring will be in February when they host the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Florida.
