Men's Tennis Plays First Road Match on Sunday

The Cardinals take on Northwestern in Evanston on Sunday afternoon
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – UofL men's tennis is slated for its first match on the road on Sunday when it takes on Northwestern (0-2) at the Combe Tennis Center in Evanston, Ill., at 1 p.m. ET.
The Cardinals (2-0) opened up their season with two wins on Wednesday with 6-1 victories over Xavier and Bellarmine. Six of the eight Louisville players who saw action in singles and/or doubles were undefeated on the day.
Louisville's Miguel Avendaño was apart of three of four clinching points between the two matches. He teamed up with Piet Steveker in doubles against Xavier to claim that point, and then was the clinching singles point to win the match. He played doubles with Andre' Steinbach later in the day to clinch the doubles point. Freshman Enrique Peña was the clinching singles point against Bellarmine, winning his first collegiate match.

Scouting the Wildcats: Northwestern has started its season 0-1 with losses to NC State (6-1) and Memphis. They finished the 2023 season ranked No. 25 but lost significant pieces of their squad heading into 2024. The Wildcats have four freshmen on their 10-man roster.
