June 09, 2023 | Track & Field
Trey Allen, Cameron Miller, and the men’s 4x100m relay all earned first team All-American honors.
AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Louisville men's track and field team capped off one of the most successful seasons in school history on Friday night at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, with all three Louisville entries on the day being recognized as first team All-Americans.
The Louisville men totaled seven points in Austin, the most the squad has scored at the event since 2017.
Trey Allen recorded the best finish for a Louisville athlete on the week, clearing 2.16m (7-1) to tie for fourth place in the men's high jump in his third consecutive appearance at the outdoor championship meet.
The redshirt junior's finish marks him as the first Louisville athlete to earn outdoor first team All-American honors in back-to-back seasons in any event since Edwin Kibichiy did so in the men's 3000m steeplechase in 2016 and 2017.
The men's 4x100m relay team of Nolan Macklin, Cameron Miller, Jeremiah Willis, and Sterling Warner-Savage went under 39 seconds for the third time this season, placing sixth overall while running a time of 38.81 that stands as the second-fastest in program history behind their semifinal mark on Wednesday.
On the season, the Cardinals recorded nine of the 10 best times in school history in the men's 4x100m relay, including each of the top eight marks.
Miller then rounded out the evening for Louisville in the men's 200m, clocking 20.30 to place eighth in finishing a season that saw him rewrite the record books in his first year with the program.
The redshirt junior became the first athlete in Louisville history to qualify for the outdoor national meet in three separate events during the same season, becoming a three-time All-American in his first trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships after also running the second legs in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.
The Cardinals went into the week with ten entries, the most for the program since 2009, seeing four entries recognized as first team All-Americans, two as second team All-Americans, and four as honorable mention All-Americans.
