LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville's Soledad Jean, Carly Pujol, Synclair Savage, Aliyah Welter, and Zoe Yeast were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's Track & Field Academic All-District team.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must hold at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District Track & Field Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program recognizes track & field honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Jean competed in six meets this season in the high jump, earning her second consecutive qualification to the NCAA East Region Preliminary Round in the event. The sophomore cleared a season-best height of 1.81m (5-11.25) to win the Clark Wood Invitational, with the clearance standing as a new meet record and tying her for the tenth-best jump in program history.
Pujol capped her fourth season with the Cardinals by securing her first berth in the NCAA East Region Preliminary Round in the pole vault, her seventh and final meet of the season. The redshirt junior placed seventh at the ACC Outdoor Championships to score two points for the team, clearing a personal-best mark of 4.18m (13-8.5).
Savage clinched her second consecutive appearance in the long jump at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, while also anchoring the women's 4x100m relay team to a national qualification as well. The junior broke her own school record in the long jump at the Texas Relays, leaping 6.53m (21-5.25), while also recording a runner-up finish at the ACC Outdoor Championships.
Welter also earned a spot in next week's NCAA Outdoor Championships in the pole vault, marking her third straight year qualifying for the national meet. The senior earned six top-three finishes in the event on the season, including a silver-medal finish at the ACC Outdoor Championships where she cleared a season-best height of 4.28m (14-0.5).
Yeast competed in both the discus throw and hammer throw at six meets this season, finishing her season at the ACC Outdoor Championships with an eighth-place finish in the discus to score a point for the Cardinals. The redshirt sophomore recorded a team-leading and personal-best heave of 57.55m (188-9) in the hammer throw at the Joe Walker Invitational.
