LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Head coach Whitney Young is pleased to announce the addition of Beatriz Barrios to the University of Louisville women's golf team for the 2023-24 season. Barrios was a stand-out at Chattanooga and looks to provide an immediate impact for the Cardinals.
Barrios, who is from Seville, Spain, played for the Chattanooga Mocs for three years of her collegiate career and will be eligible for her fourth college season in 2023-24.
"We are excited to announce the signing of Beatriz Barrios, an amazing golfer and student," Coach Young said. "She is incredibly talented and we cannot wait to see her excel on the course for the Cards."
During her freshman year with the Mocs, Barrios was named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman team and was a WGCA All-American Scholar. She appeared in all 12 events in 2020-21 and finished second on the team with a 75.53 stroke average.
Barrios recorded seven par or better rounds as a freshman, including the season-best round on the team with a 68 at the Pinetree Intercollegiate. She finished in the top five three times, with her best finish at second in the Pinetree Intercollegiate, where she recorded a 1-under-par 215.
In 2021-22, Barrios played in four tournaments during the fall season. She finished third on the team with a 74.25 stroke average.
This past season, Barrios played in all five of the fall tournaments before announcing her intent to enter the transfer portal. She recorded a scoring average of 74.13 in the fall of 2022, with five par or better rounds.
