The Brohm Era Opens with the First Spring Practice

LOUISVILLE – The Jeff Brohm era officially opened when the University of Louisville football team opened spring practice on Tuesday afternoon at L&N Stadium.
A lot of buzz around the football program revolves around the hiring of Brohm. who returns to coach his alma mater after a successful six-year run at Purdue.
In a short period of time, Brohm has made significant additions made to the offensive side of the ball. Athletic play makers at the wide receiver position and other offensive weapons has given UofL fans optimism heading into the 2023 season.
It was great to get back out there today," Brohm said. "Our guys want to do well and work hard. They want to win. They are putting forth good effort. They need to invest in getting better. We have to use these 15 practices to get better.
Jack Plummer made his debut for the Cards in the spring and teamed with returnee Brock Domann to give the Cardinals a solid quarterback battle in the spring.
"Jack is a great person and a great leader. He's a good leader and teammate," Brohm said. "I thought he did a good job. Brock has experience. Things are a little new to him. All the quarterbacks have some ability but we have to continue to harness that so they can go out there and play at a high level.
Louisville added a ton of new faces this spring that will bolster a roster that went 8-5 last season. The Cardinals return 14 starters but Louisville signed 27 players during the two signing periods, including adding 18 players who participated in spring practice on Tuesday. The Cards brought in 11 new offensive players and seven on defense to help Brohm bring in some additional talent to begin his first season.
With the first spring practice open to the fans, Brohm wanted the fans to get a glimpse of what this 2023 team will look like this season.
"We want the fans to feel a part of it," Brohm said. "We want the fans to see how hard the players have worked. I think our fans deserve to be out here to see how we are progressing as a team."
The Cardinals will have an off day tomorrow before returning to to the practice field on Thursday afternoon..
