Sara Addeche Named ACC Defender of the Week

Addeche earns the honor for the first time of her career.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville junior goalkeeper Sara Addeche was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. The award is the first of her career for Addeche.
This award marks the first time a Louisville player has earned a weekly award since Brittany Read won the final ACC Defensive Player of the Week for the 2017 season.
Addeche led the Cardinals in goal to a 12-5 upset over then-ranked No. 25 Colorado on Sunday afternoon. Addeche finished the game with 14 saves, including six in the second half while the Buffaloes were trying to mount a comeback after falling behind 5-1 in the first half.
The Massachusetts native kept No. 9 Denver to five goals, recording seven saves in the near upset. Addeche kept the Pioneers to 2 of 4 free position shots.
Her 14 saves rank 10th on the Cardinals record board in saves in a single game. Her career goals against average (11.21) moves her to fifth on the list in career goals against average. Addeche is ninth in Cardinals' history in number of saves with 64.
