February 13, 2023 | Track & Field
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's track and field team is ranked 14th nationally in the fourth installment of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Indoor Track and Field National Rating Index, coming in with a point total of 63.20.
The Cardinals have now spent four consecutive weeks ranked in the national poll, matching the 2008-09 men's squad for the longest ranked streak in school history.
The Louisville men currently boast four national qualifiers, led by Trey Allen's nation-leading mark of 2.27m (7-5.25) in the men's high jump at the Commonwealth College Opener in December. Freshman Brion Stephens' mark of 2.20m (7-2.5) at the same event puts him in a tie for tenth nationally.
The high jump group of Allen, Stephens, Luke Nichols, and Jonah Hyde remains the top men's high jump squad in the nation according to USTFCCCA's EventSquad rankings, with the foursome's best marks averaging a clearance of 2.16m (7-1).
Last weekend at the Tiger Paw Invite, Cameron Miller broke the Louisville school record in the men's 200m dash with a time of 20.33 that gave him an event victory in a competitive field that contained seven athletes that possessed top-16 marks in the 200m entering last weekend. The performance also stands as a new facility record at the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex and places Miller second nationally in the event this season.
Sterling Warner-Savage's time of 6.55 at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational that tied his own Louisville school record now stands fifth nationally to round out the current national qualifiers for the Cardinals on the men's side.
The Cardinals will now gear up to host the ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships for the first time in school history, with competition scheduled to take place from Feb. 23-25 at the Norton Sports & Learning Center.
